Humble
“The moment of feeling invincible is the first step to a correction in the balance.”
Humility
There is a time when you have to evaluate being responsible. Self-discovery is a proponent of breaking and the culture. Once you find yourself, what is the next journey? Defining who you are is empowerment. How do you wield this new sense of self?
When you carry unwavering conviction in who you become, challenging yourself to go beyond your limitations becomes the next journey. You have the confidence to stand your ground, prove your point and challenge the status quo. However, if left unchecked, your pride can lead to a spiraling fall. Life seems to find balance whenever the scales of blessings outweigh the hardship. Too many victories can lead up to a crushing defeat, or other aspects of your life fall apart as you flourish.
Humbling experiences are the moments of checks and balances of your life. The moment of feeling invincible is the first step to a correction in the balance. Keep your pride in check, and realize the wonderful fleeting moments are steps along your path.
“Humility is not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less” -CS Lewis.
In dance, your body is your canvas, and as you build the strength of your canvas, there are moments when the canvas can break. Injuries are an example of a humbling experience to remind you not to take for granted your art form. There are 3 main points in staying humble as your confidence grows in life: Acknowledgment, Energy, and Appreciation.
Acknowledgment
Being superficial and ignorant of the great strides you make through your journey ignores your value. On the opposite point, boasting and bragging of accomplishments open the door for your confidence to turn into foolish pride. Recognize the good and bad experiences during your journey and be honest with yourself. Accept and admit your own truth to keep a clear lens on who you are and who you become.
Energy
As vague as energy can be described, the power referred to is the karma you place upon yourself. The simplest explanation is the “golden rule.”
“Golden rule is the principle of treating others as one wants to be treated” - Wikipedia
A Sanskrit word similar to this is “Karma.” it is not good nor bad; rather a cause and effect. If you plot against another, your invite someone else to conspire against you. Good karma by providing a selfless good deed may lead to a future benefit for yourself. It is a cause-and-effect concept that resonates with the idea of a destiny that you earn based on your actions and behaviors.
Appreciation
Acknowledging accomplishments, being appreciative echo that you do not take things for granted. Having gratitude keeps your pride grounded by knowing that good experiences and memories are valuable blessings that can be taken away.
Be the first to appreciate, so others can follow and enjoy you. The perception of showing gratitude inspires others to open more opportunities to further your journey. The more others feel valued by you, the more they are motivated to do their best for your wellbeing. Cultivating gratitude can create good habits that only improve you and your outlook.

These 3 points are the triangle of thoughts to refer back to when you find yourself in bad moments, when you question yourself or when you feel the imbalance in life happening. The holiday season should not be the only time we humble ourselves. Every season is a time to improve.
Establish your Triangle:
Acknowledge: Write down your accomplishments and failures of 2021.
Energy: Reflect on the energy you have given out and received in 2021.
Appreciation: Tell others, and yourself, that you appreciate them, and why.
