The internal argument of change

You are good at what you do, why change?  Did your passion change?  Are you finding yourself lost in time enjoying what you do?  We fight to become comfortable until the complacency stunts the discovery of our passion.  Mortality is inevitable with everyone.  Nothing lasts forever, including you, so are you going to do?

Five key points in change and finding purpose -

  • Value takes time

  • Unfiltered Reflection

  • Time Travel

  • Comfort

  • Mortality

Anything of worth takes time.

Patience is a forever theme we need to drill into ourselves. The worst thing to happen is growing naturally talented at something. Being instantly gifted in a subject means you never had to be patient with yourself to learn and grow. I would rather be the hardest worker than the most gifted genius. Genius can lead to the reward of melancholy madness. I know so many brilliant individuals who lost their gift in a haze of laziness that gave them a head start. I also know many hard workers who overpassed these geniuses from sheer will, change, consistency, and patience.

By learning to accept time as an invaluable resource that enriches our lives, we can become present in taking the growth journey. One step forward is just as important as ten jumps ahead, and they all move us.

Why don’t you (fill in the bank) anymore?

Children are the unfiltered versions of ourselves. When we had no voices plaguing every decision we made, we were the captains of our ships. We sailed through any uncharted adventures in life. As life happens, it chews us up and spits us out. We lose the courage to ignore the naysayers and society’s pressures to tell us how to live.

Life always seemed to be lighter as a child. With the weight of external expectations, doubt and fear creep into our thoughts. We were free from these anchors on our ship before, but now they drag us down, often keeping us docked ashore. Ask yourself what you loved to do as a child, and reflect on what is stopping you now.

Time Traveller

Time flies by when we are having fun. We have so much fun, and we sometimes forget to even eat and wonder where the time went. When we follow our passion or hobbies, our focus becomes so precise, we time travel. Isn’t that what life is about? To be able to enjoy our time here while pursuing things we are passionate about?

We fall into a flow state and fly through our time, making it timeless.

Distraction of Comfort

Moderation in everything is good, that includes complacency. Too comfortable and fall into a state of inertia. Floating day by day with no drive or purpose can become unfulfilling.

Mortality

Urgency breeds progression. Discovering our purpose in life is found in thinking of death. Awareness of the timeline of life jumpstarts our thoughts and initiative to looking within, intently processing how we uncover purpose. The legacy of ourselves will be decided with the output placed forth during our timeline. The perspective of our lifespan can motivate us to refocus and realign to our goals.

Change is neither good nor bad, just a constant reality of progression in finding our purpose. Utilizing the change to reveal our passions is the fuel to guide our journey. Toss aside the maps, close your GPS, and boldly embrace the unknown to fulfillment and self-discovery.
